nt a programme dedicated to Muslimgauze\, the prolific musical project of
British artist Bryn Jones\, whose work developed an intense and often cont
ested relationship with Palestine\, the Middle East\, political imagery an
d sound. The programme brings together exhibition\, film\, archival materi
al\, listening and conversation\, approaching Muslimgauze not simply throu
gh music\, but through the visual and political world that accumulated aro
und an extraordinary body of work. The exhibition\, curated by Mohammad Za
za\, presents a selection of album covers\, artworks and visual material f
rom Muslimgauze’s extensive catalogue. Through repetition\, appropriatio
n and political iconography\, these works form a visual archive inseparabl
e from the music itself. As part of the programme\, we will screen Muslimg
auze: Chasing the Shadow of Bryn Jones\, directed by Iara Lee\, followed b
y a conversation around the film and the legacy of Bryn Jones. The program
me also includes Memorial for Those Who Did Not Fall in War\, creating ano
ther point of reflection within the exhibition around memory\, absence\, v
iolence and the ways political histories are remembered. The exhibition op
ens a wider Muslimgauze programme continuing the following week at Ruq’a
h\, focusing on the sonic experience\, political content and politics of r
epetition in Jones’s work\, curated by Otis Verhoeve and Feras Abo Dabbo
