Ruq’ah is an independent house for art and culture in Brussels, bringing together exhibitions, music, film, performance, books, food, research, workshops, and public conversation.

The project is built as a living ecosystem rather than a conventional venue. Artists, audiences, researchers, cultural workers, and communities meet through recurring programs, long-term projects, shared meals, archives, performances, and everyday encounters.

Ruq’ah is rooted in Brussels, closely connected to Palestine and its diasporas, and open to wider artistic and cultural exchanges.

The name رُقعة reflects this approach: a piece of ground, a patch of fabric, a surface, a field. A space where different threads, perspectives, practices, and stories can come together.

Ruq’ah is initiated by Feras Abo Dabboseh and Mohammad Zaza, together with a wider network of collaborators in Brussels, Palestine, and beyond.

A ruq’ah |رُقْعَة | is never the whole world. It is a piece of it.

A patch of ground |رُقْعَة أَرْض| can become a place to gather.

A piece of fabric |رُقْعَة قُمَاش| can be joined to another and become something larger.

A chessboard |رُقْعَة الشِّطْرَنْج| becomes a field of movement, strategy, tension, and, possibility.

Khatt al-Ruq‘ah |خَطُّ الرُّقْعَةِ|  is one of the most familiar styles of Arabic handwriting, where thought takes form through the written line.

Not a finished project, but a space that is continuously made through the people, ideas, practices, and encounters that pass through it.

Ruq’ah brings together art, books, music, film, food, performance, archives, research, work, and public conversation as parts of the same cultural life.

Ruq’ah is both an art gallery, creative space and an everyday spot in the Center of Brussels.

An exhibition can continue through a conversation around a table.

A book can lead to a film screening.

An archive can become a performance.

A brunch can become a place for memories.

A workspace can become the beginning of a collaboration.

Our program moves between recurring gatherings and larger artistic projects, with space for imagination, experimentation, community initiatives, and warm encounters.

Rather than separating art and politics from everyday life, Ruq’ah allows the flow of conciseness.

Lagrange Points began in 2018 and has moved through different spaces, collaborations, pauses, experiments, and transformations, Ruq’ah is its next form.

The name Lagrange Points came from the astronomical idea of points of equilibrium, places where different gravitational forces can remain in balance. Ruq’ah brings that idea closer to the ground.

From a point in space to a piece of land.

From a meeting point to a place that can be inhabited, written on, shared, contested, repaired, and transformed.

The new visual identity, designed by Mohammad Zaza, grows from the multiple meanings of the Arabic word رُقعة, while also drawing on the visual language of the grid, the pixel, and early video games such as Tetris. It reflects Ruq’ah as a field of movement, composition, play, and, possibility.
