We’re very happy to welcome the Merlin Breij Group to Ruq’ah for Nocturnes, an immersive musical performance for four musicians.

In Nocturnes, there is no conventional stage. Musicians and audience share the same space, while music, light, text, scents, and darkness are shaped together in real time. The performance moves between contemporary music and jazz, creating a sensory environment where sound becomes something physical, spatial, and intimate.

Led by Swiss composer and guitarist Merlin Breij, the quartet brings together electric guitar, cello, violin, and percussion. The work is primarily acoustic and was developed as an immersive performance in which the audience gradually moves through different levels of darkness and atmosphere.
