TATREEZ: Embroidery, Memory and Palestinian History
A workshop exploring Tatreez, Palestinian embroidery, as a practice of memory, identity, resistance, and living cultural heritage.
The session moves through the history and evolution of Tatreez, from the late nineteenth century to the present, including:

Tatreez history from 1850 to 1950
The story of the Nakba Thobe
The story of the Intifada Thobe
The evolution of Tatreez today
Digitising embroidery patterns
Personal Tatreez practices
At the end, participants will have the opportunity to stitch a small motif and experience the practice directly.
The workshop also introduces the work of Sunbula, supporting Palestinian artisans and traditional crafts.
