RUMI & SHAMS: Mostafa Taleb & Milad Mohammadi

On 21 November, Ruq’ah welcomes two Iranian musicians for an intimate evening inspired by the encounter between the poet and mystic Rumi and his spiritual master Shams Tabrizi.

Mostafa Taleb on kamancheh and Milad Mohammadi on tar bring together Persian classical music, improvisation, composition and experimentation. In their hands, these instruments move beyond their traditional roles, becoming voices, percussion and sonic landscapes, while remaining rooted in the poetry, spirituality and philosophy of Persian culture.

The project takes the meeting between Rumi and Shams as a point of departure, a meeting that transformed Rumi’s life and opened a path toward mysticism, poetry, dance and music.
