Tasbih | A Pop-up Intervention by Ruq’ah
Tasbih | A Pop-up Intervention by Ruq’ah
From 22 to 31 October 2026, Ruq’ah presents Tasbih at Cloud Seven, a pop-up intervention tracing the visual world built around Muslimgauze, the prolific musical project of British artist Bryn Jones, whose work developed an intense and often contested relationship with Palestine, the Middle East, political imagery and the sound of conflict.

Taking its name from an Arabic word associated with the recitation of a religious phrase, Tasbih displaces this idea of repetition and recitation onto the circulation of images drawn from mass media, music and politics.
Curated by Mohammad Zaza, the intervention presents a selection of album covers, artworks and visual material from Muslimgauze’s extensive catalogue. Through repetition, appropriation and political iconography, these works form a visual archive inseparable from the music itself, revealing the distinctive visual language that accumulated around Bryn Jones’s extraordinary body of work.

On Thursday 22 October, from 19:00 to 21:00, Tasbih will be accompanied by a screening of Muslimgauze: Chasing the Shadow of Bryn Jones, directed by Iara Lee. The film will be screened on loop in Studio 7, offering another entry point into the life, work and political imagination surrounding Muslimgauze.
Simultaneously, a listening session will take place at Ruq’ah, curated by Otis Verhoeve, extending the programme into the sonic world of Muslimgauze and creating a parallel space to encounter Bryn Jones’s work through sound, repetition and listening.
Tasbih will remain on view at Cloud Seven from 22 to 31 October 2026, on the third floor of the art space.

Registration is prefferable for each visitor attending the event at Cloud Seven on 22 October due to the limited capacity of Studio 7.
